Audax presents 128 Hazelton, an alternative to the glass condo tower, at Toronto of the Future
June 2017 - Audax will join leading players in real estate and architecture at the second biennial edition of Toronto of the Future. The exhibit will showcase the latest design ideas for commercial, industrial and residential, developments, as well as urban infrastructure and transportation projects that are shaping Toronto. Audax will be presenting their latest condo project, 128 Hazelton, a luxury multi-unit residential building which uses stone and masonry to create a modern design, instead of the conventional glass window wall. “We paid a lot of attention to the exterior ground level of the building, which too many times is an afterthought in our city,” says Gianpiero Pugliese, Principal of Audax. The design for 128 Hazelton was inspired by the Haussmann building typology in Paris, but treated in a more modern way. Audax used an approach called Human Architecture, a design framework developed by the studio, which takes the best practices of traditional architecture and marries them with a modern aesthetic. "Toronto is a leading city in the Western Hemisphere with respect to the unprecedented scale of urbanization, redevelopment, and renewal we see today,” says Jennifer Keesmaat, Chief Planner, City Planning Division of the City of Toronto. “We expect this trend of rapid change to continue and as a result, we need to continue to push our thinking with respect to what the city could become.” Toronto of the Future takes place June to 26 to 30, 2017 at MetroCentre / Metro Hall (55 John St.) and will feature 3D scale models, illustrations, renderings and virtual presentations from top architects, contractors, developers and government agencies, intended to inspire conversations about the evolution of a great city. The exhibit is hosted by Montreal-based event firm Cities of the Future Management in collaboration with the City of Toronto and Oxford Properties Group. Admission is free.
