Job Overview
The role of the Senior Bookkeeper / Controller is a full-time position in the company. As a full-service architecture, interior design, and construction studio, we are looking to bring on a detail-oriented and precise professional to carry out the duties below. This position will offer the opportunity to collaborate with our design team and to work with some of the most successful and affluent homeowners and business people across the country and internationally.
Qualifications
i. Degree in Accounting or related discipline
ii. Minimum 10 years of relevant post-graduate experience in accounting / bookkeeping
iii. High-level skill with QuickBooks an Microsoft Office applications (specifically Microsoft Excel)
iv. Experiences in generating invoices, coordinating insurance, managing budgets, preparing client contracts, and creating estimates and purchase orders
v. Fluent understanding of accounts payables and receivables, corporate tax and H.S.T. installments, journal entries, payroll and source deductions, and reconciliation procedures
vi. Excellent English written and verbal communication skills
vii. Detail-oriented and highly-organized problem solver
viii. Trustworthy and well understood in matters requiring confidentiality
ix. Experience in the architecture / interior design / construction industry an asset
Key Responsibilities
i. Prepare and manage invoices, payroll and source deductions, and corporate tax and H.S.T. installments
ii. Coordinate with the design team to prepare client procurement estimates, purchase orders, and invoices
iii. Manage the accounts payables and receivables, including making collection calls
iv. Draft and prepare client contracts
v. Coordinate corporate and personal income taxes
vi. Remit T4s
vii. Review budgets and financial statements
viii. Prepare deposits
ix. Chequing, VISA, and other reconciliations
x. Advise on areas regarding potential cost savings and increased profit margins
xi. Coordinate with the company accountant to file the H.S.T., review company financial statements, and prepare the company file for the fiscal year-end
xii. Ensure the highest level of accuracy and precision in all areas of work
