Mariya Naumov
Principal
B.A. University of Toronto, B.I.D. (Hons) Toronto Metropolitan University
Mariya plays an integral part in overseeing the interior design department at
Audax. She holds a Bachelor of Art History from the University of Toronto
and an Honours degree from Canada’s renowned Toronto Metropolitan
School of Interior Design.
While helping spearhead the successful expansion of interior design into
Audax’s practice, Mariya has worked on multiple high-end residential
projects and has collaborated to create numerous custom furniture
pieces. Having worked in the interior industry for over a decade, Mariya
has also had her projects featured in numerous Canadian and international
publications.
Mariya brings skill, a talented intuitive element, and a strong technical
background into her practice. Her years of study and training in art and art
history have helped her immensely. She often draws upon her familiarity
with the classic paintings of the great masters of the Western canon as
a source of inspiration—for example, the strong colour palette of Dutch
classics or the delicate curvature of Rococo.
Not one to get caught up in the latest fads, Mariya’s design ethos is also
influenced by classical architecture—in particular, its approach to scale,
balance, and symmetry.
