Audax-Headshot-Jan2019---Final-Zoom---Web-Ready Julia Carpenter Designer B.I.D. Humber College What inspired you to get into the profession of Interior Design? From a very early age, I had an awareness of the uncanny impact that a carefully designed space had on my mood. In particular, I was moved by the power of interior design to evoke a sense of luxury, balance and beauty. It is in these chords that I myself currently seek to strike in my own practice as an interior designer. What are some of your favorite interior projects and why? I am in love with Audax’s “King City Barn House”. The project’s mixture of rustic and modern design is very exciting. The Reichstag building in Berlin, Germany, has always inspired me as it represents a brilliant mesh of classic and modern architecture. I also appreciate St. Paul’s Cathedral in London, England. The cathedral is exceptionally well-balanced and showcases a classical design in a timeless manner that is simply unmatched in the contemporary world. How do you find inspiration for your projects? Travel has always been my primary source of inspiration and stimulation. I always take note of interesting colour combinations and schemes. Most recently, I was struck by the harmonious proportions of the classical architecture I visited in Italy and the Boho chic style of Cabo, Mexico.
